Summary of Primary Races
(30% of the delegate vote or requisite number of petition signatures to get on the primary ballot)
Governor Candidates
1. Scott Bottoms (R) 962 votes or 44% of the vote (campaigning for 14 months)
2. Victor Marx (R) 837 votes or 38% of the vote (campaigning for 7 months)
3. Barb Kirkmeier (R) On the primary ballot via petition signatures
Bottoms, Marx, and Mikesell all gave excellent presentations. All 3 had good support. Marx/Bottoms had the most support and showed their support through parades around the room. Barb Kirkmeier did not present at the state assembly because she is on the ballot by petition. Dem primary candidates are: Michael Bennet and Phil Weiser (current AG).
State Treasurer (ran unopposed)
Kevin Grantham (R) 1765 votes or 81% (unopposed in primary; will run in GE against Jeff Bridges-D)
Attorney General (Both Candidates made the ballot - a MUST win seat against Dems)
Michael Allen (R) 1323 votes or 61% of the vote
David Willson (R) 736 votes or 34% of the vote
Mike Allen won by a landslide against a late entry candidate. With Mike Allen as the nominee, this is a winnable seat for us. Help me support him. Jena Griswold (D) - Lack of experience and ethics make it CRITICAL that she does NOT win! Lied about supreme court experience.
Secretary of State
James Wiley (R) 1159 votes or 53% of the vote (unopposed for primary - I'll support campaign)
James "JJ" McKinzie (R) 478 votes or 22% of the vote
US Senate (this is Hickenlooper's seat - MUST win)
Mark Baisley (R) 950 votes or 45.9% of the vote (I support this campaign)
Sean Pond (ACP) (American Constitutional Party)
Both Sean Pond and George Markert gave excellent presentations. But Janak Joshi pulled enough of the vote to keep both of them out of the primary. On one hand, this is unfortunate as Markert and Pond would have run a great primary race. On the other hand, this will allow the Baisley race to focus their campaign funds on the general election race against Hickenlooper...a race we NEED to win! Later, Sean Pond switched parties so that he could still run in the primary.
Congressional District 5 (MUST hold )
Jeff Crank (R) Voted on the ballot by acclamation at the CD5 assembly on March 28th. (I will be
supporting this campaign)
Jessica Killen (D) Moved here to target this seat. A MUST DEFEAT!
Note: The Democrats have moved an opposing candidate to our city from Washington DC to try to flip this seat and dilute the republican stronghold here in El Paso County. Ms. Jessica Killen is an acquaintance of Nancy Pelosi and chief of staff to Kamala Harris' husband. She is here with significant campaign funding to run against Mr. Crank. I will be doing everything I can to reduce the probability that we don't lose this seat. Please help support his campaign any way you can, even if it's just putting a sign in your yard.
STATE Senate District 9 (MUST HOLD - Paul Lundeen was the incumbent, took a position in Washington DC, and endorsed Terri Carver to run)
Terri Carver (R) On the ballot via petition - received roughly 1700 validated signatures out of the
1000 required
Lynda Zamora Wilson (R) On the ballot by acclamation at the county assembly
Note: Both will have to run a primary campaign. If you'd like to know my personal views on this race, please feel free to call me. Dem: William Delano Moses III.
STATE House District 14 (MUST HOLD - Rose Pugliese was the incumbent, she stepped down for family reasons)
Ava Flannel 67% of the county assembly vote held on March 21st, 2026. On the ballot through petition and delegate vote. She only needed 4 more votes to run unopposed.
Troy Vanderhule 31% of the county assembly vote held on March 21st, 2026.
Note: Both will have to run a primary campaign. If you'd like to know my personal views on this race, please feel free to call me. Dem will be Sarah Emery.
Other County Republican races:
HD16 (must hold seat): Jill Haffley vs Jamie Koch. Winner will run against the absolutely vile Stephanie Vigil (D) who advocates for the state to own our children.
HD17 (unfamiliar with this race): Isaiah Blais
HD18 (must win/flip seat): Adriana Cuva (R) vs James Boelens (R); Dem will be Amy Paschal.
HD2 (must hold): Jarvis Caldwell (unopposed); no Dem opponent that I'm aware of.
HD21 (must hold): Incumbent Mary Bradfield (R), Alexander Africa (R), and Brenda Miller (R); Dem is Michelle Tweed
HD22 (must hold): Ken deGraaf (R) incumbent vs. Michael Pierson (D) in general election (GE).
SD11 (must win/flip seat): Levon Stilson (R) (sharp, talented candidate) vs Dem. Tony Exum
County Commission 1 (CC1): Ryan Graham (R) vs Lindsay Moore (R)
