House District 16

Incumbent: Rebecca Keltie (not seeking re-election)

Republican Candidate:  Jill Haffley    vs.  Democrat Candidate:  Stephanie Vigil

Why She's Running:

I'm running to represent House District 16  because I believe Colorado needs leaders grounded in service, guided by common sense, and willing to take responsibility.  For 30 years, I taught US History and Government in Colorado Springs.  I helped students understand our Constitution, individual liberty, personal responsibility, and the role citizens play in preserving a free society.  A lifetime in the classroom taught me what works and what doesn't.   AI am committed to carrying my experience and values to the legislature to fight for your rights.  I need your support and hope to earn your vote.

Testimonial: A Life of Public Service

Lived all but 10 years of her life in Colorado Springs. Moved here from the east coast. Attended UCCS. Jill states, “I love this city and hate to see it like it is now where no one can afford anything and parents lose their children to the government if they call them by a funky name or their kids have to leave the state because they can’t afford to live here. I want my Colorado back!”

As a teacher, involved her students in a Library of Congress veterans history project where they interviewed WWII veterans about their experiences, put together a multimedia presentation and gathered items for the Library of Congress. Learned about WWII history through practical experience, not just a textbook.

Trained dogs for 30 years volunteering with a local dog rescue to help people understand their new dog and help them get over the hump of teaching their dog…Jill’s service-oriented approach helped the teacher, the owner, and the dog, reducing the number of dogs that were returned.

Fun fact: Jill was a DJ for a local Christian radio station under the name of “Jill Jackson”
